(Senior School, Grades 7-12)

Since the School became accredited by the IBO, students in Grades 11 and 12 have been participating in CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) in order to meet the requirements of the Diploma Programme. This non-academic aspect of their education is extremely valuable in the overall development of the whole child, and many universities are now asking for evidence of a well-rounded educational background in addition to good academic skills. We, therefore, decided to extend the programme to benefit all students in the Senior School.

The Amin Hasan Award Scheme, named after the founder of the Modern Montessori School, was introduced with the fundamental aims of developing and nurturing the following character traits:
  • Self-reliance and self-discipline.
  • Perseverance, commitment and determination.
  • Initiative and originality.
  • Respect for body and mind.
  • Responsibility and loyalty.
  • Tolerance and respect for others.

It is a six-year programme, split into three levels: Bronze for Grades 7 and 8, Silver for Grades 9 and 10, and Gold for Grades 11 and 12. All students are required to complete a specified number of hours per year in each CAS category. Creativity covers a wide range of artistic activities, outside the curriculum, including creative thinking in the design and execution of service projects. Action includes individual and team sports and physical education activities outside the curriculum, as well as a compulsory expedition and military camp. Service consists of interaction with and working for others in the community.

A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered to the students and a challenging expedition is organised for each grade every year. There are compulsory first-aid courses and civil defence workshops arranged for each grade.

Credit hours are awarded for participation in activities; stars are also awarded for exceptional performance or achievement within an activity. Upon completion of the Bronze and Silver levels, a full two-year scholarship is awarded to the first place winners of the both levels.  Students who come in second place are given a 50% reduction in their fees for a two year period and students who come in the third place are given a 40% reduction in their fees for a two year period.  The overall highest achiever in the Programme, who has collected the most number of stars and/or hours at the Gold Level, is presented with a gold medallion.

Our aim is to provide students with the opportunities and skills needed to reach personal goals and ambitions, at the same time promoting the values of participation, cooperation, social responsibility and good citizenship.

Within the framework of the AHA, Senior School students participate in educational activities such as the Model United Nations (MUN) and an annual international conference called Amman Model Arab League (AMAL), which was initiated and organised by the school. Additionally, we have a very active Student Council, which is elected annually.
